Olivia Munn was scolded for talking "really fast" while shooting new TV show The Newsroom.
The actress portrays financial analyst Sloan on the HBO series and admits she had to slow down her speech to be understood more easily.
The budding star, who is developing a reputation for playing strong female characters, had to learn to take constructive criticism on the chin.
"I talk really fast. My first day on set they were like, Could you slow it down?' And I said, Am I the first person to be told to slow down Sorkin [Aaron Sorkin, writer]?' " Olivia recalled to the latest edition of UK magazine GQ.
Olivia also spoke about defying her former stepfather who told her she would never amount to anything.
The Magic Mike star said that despite their difficult relationship she has moved on from the past.
"I knew if I could just get through to 18 I could start again," she said. "The best revenge is getting to a place where you no longer care about revenge. I know if he sees me on a newsstand he's mad. He hates it. And that's enough."
