September 24, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Outfest, which will present its yearly Legacy Awards on the 21st of October, announced that this time one of the awardees would be maverick director Roland Emmerich. Roland Emmerich has been associated with blockbuster movies like "The Day After Tomorrow" "Independence Day" and "The Patriot." He has earned a secured place in the Hollywood industry thanks to these films.
Emmerich would be presented with the coveted Visionary Award as a part of his contribution to the LGBT media visibility. The ever-popular Fox Entertainment Group will also be awarded at the event. They would be presented with the Guardian Award in recognition of the company's commitment as well as proper contribution to the community of LGBT.
Kirsten Schaffer, Executive Director of Outfest proclaimed that they are tremendously proud to honor Emmerich and Fox Entertainment Group, who have eternally supported the Outfest as well as the LGBT community. He further added that Roland Emmerich, the director of some billion dollar Hollywood blockbusters, has been the biggest champ of Outfest for half a decade now. It is thus only apt that the organization returns the favor in their own special way.
Emmerich's very liberal donations have also helped to set up the Legacy Project and he has immensely supported LGBT with an undying enthusiasm.
