(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Paris Hilton is feeling positive about her newly single status as it will be an opportunity to "get to know herself".

The 30-year-old reality TV star has announced she and entrepreneur Cy Waits, 34, are no longer an item.

The pair had been dating for roughly a year, with Paris explaining the split was perfectly amicable. The celebrity, whose former loves include pop singer Nick Carter and The Hills star Doug Reinhardt, is feeling good about becoming a free agent, as she's rarely been out of a relationship.

"I've never been single in my life," she told reporters at last night's I Heart Ronson and JC Penney Collection event in Los Angeles.

"I've always had a boyfriend and I've always been scared to be alone, so I've been that type of person that needs somebody and never got to know myself.

"When I'm in a relationship I give my all and I'm 100%, so I'm excited to get to know myself and spend time with my family, my sister, and my girls."

The socialite has trips to glamorous destinations such as Italy and St. Tropez planned, and wants to "just have an amazing summer".

She told okmagazine.com the second season of her reality programme The World According to Paris will be focusing more on her life as a single girl.

"Definitely! It's going to be a lot different than this season a lot of fun, a lot of hanging out with my girls, and just living life to the fullest," she smiled.

The blonde beauty was quick to insist that she and Cy will be friends for life despite their romance not working out. The pair have known each other for a long time and share a close bond.

"Cy and I have been friends for years. I've known him from Vegas and my family knows him, and he's such a great guy and always treated me so well. He's one of my closest friends, so you know," she insisted. (C) Cover Media
