Paris Hilton sued over hair extensions

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Paris Hilton is being sued by a hair extension company for $35 million.

Hairtech International has filed a lawsuit against the 29-year-old heiress for fraud and deceit, unjust enrichment and breach of contract. The company signed a promotional deal with Paris in 2006, but allege she violated the terms of that agreement in 2008 when she was photographed on a night out wearing a competitor’s product.

In legal papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, Hairtech seeks $35 million in damages from Paris, claiming her use of another brand of hair extensions directly destroyed its marketing campaign.

Documents allege Paris was paid $3.5 million to wear Dream Catcher Hair Extensions while partying, but was photographed at least once without them.

"Paris Hilton is an individual celebrity who committed fraud and deceit as well as breaching all agreements by failing to abide by the law, failing to do appearances, failing to wear the Plaintiff's hair extensions or otherwise fulfil her end of the agreements despite being paid in excess of approximately $3,500,000 in licensing and endorsement fees,” the lawsuit claims.

Hairtech also claims Paris lost them $6.6 million when she failed to appear at a launch party for the Dream Catcher line in June 2007. Paris was in jail at the time, serving a 23-day sentence in relation to her conviction for Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

According to website RadarOnline, Hairtech alleges Paris breached their deal by indulging in repeated “chemical abuse, illicit drug use, alcohol abuse as well as other (illegal) debaucheries” which they claim brought the company into disrepute.

Paris’ lawyers have yet to respond to the lawsuit. Her father Rick Hilton is named as a co-defendant in the case. (C) Cover Media
