(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Paul Weller says proper songs should be less than two minutes long.
The 52-year-old British musician is currently recording his new album which is yet to be titled.
Paul - who was a member of British rock band The Jam believes good songs should be short, and says that the majority of the songs on his new record fall into this category.
Too many. Theres one called The Dangerous Age that weve been playing live thats a mega tune with a funk edge to it. We did a couple of brand new tracks this week and they both sound like singles to me. One of them, The Attic, clocks in at 1 minute 30 seconds, which is a proper f**king length for a song. It sounds like its sped up, he told Q magazine.
Pauls last album Wake Up the Nation was released last April and met with critical acclaim. The LP also marked his first collaboration with The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton in 28 years.
In May 2010 Weller was presented with the Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement award. Now the musician is keen to finish his new album which he hopes to release by the end of summer.
Weve only been working on it for about eight days in total, but it aint far off. Its just a case of finishing stuff up and seeing what else turns up. Hopefully well be done by the end of March for an early summer or September release, he added. (C) Cover Media
