(Cover) - EN Star Style - Penlope Cruz "isn't scared to be ugly" when she's acting.

The successful Hollywood actress has fronted various advertising campaigns for brands such as L'Oral and Lancme. Despite her glamorous lifestyle, she doesn't mind looking unattractive for film roles.

The 37-year-old Spanish beauty, who can currently be seen as pirate Angelica in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, has revealed she often probes the stylist to add more make-up to enhance her "ugly" look.

"I'm not scared to be ugly when I work so I often ask for more moustache or black bags under my eyes!" she confessed in an interview with Closer magazine.

The gorgeous star also has another way of distancing herself from her film roles. Penlope relentlessly works with a voice coach to eradicate her Spanish actress so she feels like a different person.

"I love to spend hours with the dialogue coach because it creates a distance from myself. That way I don't hear Penlope talking I don't criticise myself so much and have more freedom to try things," she said. (C) Cover Media
