Penlope Cruz: Pirates set was like Disneyland

(Cover) - EN Movies - Penlope Cruz says shooting Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was like visiting Disneyland every day.

The Spanish star joined the fourth instalment of the famed movie franchise as Angelica. The films famously star Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and Penlope found working with the Hollywood hunk a dream.

She enjoyed the sword-fighting scenes as it was the first time shed done anything so physical on camera. Penlope was pregnant while filming, but she knew Johnny, director Rob Marshall and producer Jerry Bruckheimer always kept that in mind.

It was a lot of fun. It was the first time I really get to do something like this. I would love to do more [action films], she told Cover Media.

We had all these great masters and I was so protected and safe. Being safe you can really enjoy it, it was really like being at Disneyland every day, to go to some amazing locations it was great to wake up to go to work every day.

Penlope was familiar with the first three movies in the franchise before taking the role of Angelica. She loved them and was particularly impressed with the way Johnny plays flamboyant pirate Captain Jack Sparrow.

I was a big fan of the three movies. Because of the world they created and especially because of what Johnny created with this iconic character. I think its so brave what he did. To get the opportunity to play a pirate and then to come up with this proposal and to stick to it and make it work like he did and create something that everybody falls in love with Jack. Its really, really incredible working with this guy, she said.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is released in the UK on May 18. (C) Cover Media
