Puneeth Rajakumar's film sets another record
10th June 2011
Another stupendous record for Power star Puneeth Rajakumar, the No.1 of Kannada cinema! His under production Kannada film 'Paramathma', with Yogaraj Bhat, from the days of 'Mungaru Male' (a film with highest collections so far) has done business of Rs.3.25 crores as television rights. Puneeth Rajakumar's earlier films 'Hudugaru' and 'Jackie', satellite telecast rights yielded Rs.2.5 crores each. All other stars of Kannada cinema have a pull of Rs.1 crore to Rs.2 crores from the satellite telecast rights.
'Paramathma' is produced by Jayanna who disagrees on this new record set but industry sources confirm the huge jump in satellite telecast rights. In recent months, the telecast rights for Kannada films have hit new highs.
The trend in Karnataka, as far as selling the satellite telecast rights is concerned, has also changed. Earlier, it was perpetual rights and now the Hindi cinema trend is being followed – selling films for a minimum number of telecasts or for a few years.
