He had reduced his weight by 15 kgs for the sake of the role in 'Raana' by extreme workouts and a strict diet. This resulted in severe respiratory problems and kidney infections. Rajni's brother Sathyanarayana mentioned that his lungs had been affected due to heavy smoking right from his young age. To set this right, oxygen and antibiotics are being administered to Rajni. Excessive fluid has accumulated in his lungs. This has caused breathing problems for Rajni. The doctors did a minor procedure and removed the excess fluid. After this, Rajni seems to be cheerful and energetic. Rajni also underwent biopsy test to rule out the chances of cancer. The results have also come out and it is proved that there is no sign of cancer. The doctors say that there is no need for Rajni to go abroad for his treatment.
