(Cover) - EN Star Style - Reese Witherspoon is furious that actresses are often judged on whether they look frumpy or not.
The Hollywood stars is tired of so much being made about how she and her female colleagues look, or what they choose to wear - insisting its the quality of work which should be important. She thinks theres far too much pressure on females to pick the perfect frock and never appear with a hair out of place, adding that it gets tiring. She finds awards shows particularly infuriating, as that is the one time that only the acting should matter.
I feel for these woman. The guys get dressed and its no big deal, and theyre there because theyve given a great performance. For every woman its, What is she wearing? And, But did she wear that to the last awards show? And none of it is about her performance or how hard she worked and those are woman that did extraordinary work, she told the British edition of Elle magazine.
At a certain point I want to go, Wait, strip it all down. These girls I shouldnt say girls, these women worked really hard, really hard, and now its reduced toShe looks frumpy. How hard we are on people who are just doing their best.
Reese thinks its worrying that so many women are competitive about how they look. She wants everyone to embrace their differences and stop being so judgemental.
When we start measuring women on their appearancewere just too hard on each other, she said. Women need to be more supportive of each other, stop tearing each other apart. Theres plenty of room for all of us. (C) Cover Media
