(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ricky Gervais has revealed people keep mistaking him for Helena Bonham Carter.
The British comic star is currently promoting his new DVD, Ricky Gervais Live IV Science, which features a stand-up comedy routine which was filmed in London earlier this year. To keep in touch with the theme, Ricky appears on the DVD cover with wild hair, bright red lips and a green face. However, his unusual appearance has sparked comparisons to eccentric British actress Helena and Ricky is not impressed.
I should say that is actually me on the front cover of my DVD, someone thought it was Helena Bonham Carter. I am sure she would be horrified, Ricky said during an interview on British television show This Morning. Someone else said it looked like Robert Smith from The Cure, but its supposed to be Frankensteins monster its Mary Shelleys classic morality tale of science gone wrong.
The 49-year-old funnyman went on to reveal he enjoyed performing stand up routines this year more than ever. Ricky admits he used to prefer acting or writing scripts for television projects, but has now realised how rewarding it is to make a live audience laugh.
Stand-up was always the fourth thing or fifth thing I did, but I fell in love with it this year, he explained. I fell in love with it in America first, I suppose, and I just think its such a privilege people come out in their thousands and pay $60 to see me, its great.
Ricky is known for his dry wit and often pokes fun at religion, fame and other stars. The atheist refuses to tone down his humour and doesnt mind if people dont agree with his comedic style.
Comedians should take audiences to places they havent been before. Also, just because someone is offended it doesnt mean they are in the right, you know, I can justify everything I do, he added. (C) Cover Media
