(Cover) - EN Star Style - Rihanna says growing up in Barbados made her hungry for fashion.

The 23-year-old R&B star was born on the Caribbean island, although she moved to the US at the age of 16 to pursue her music career.

The gorgeous star is known for pushing boundaries with her outfit choices, and thinks her love of haute couture developed as a result of being deprived of high fashion as a youngster.

Growing up in Barbados made my very hungry for fashion, it was something that was very inaccessible for us, she explained in a video promo for her US Vogue April edition cover shoot.

When I moved to America - thats when I really got head first into all the fashion, it was like a kid in a candy store. I couldnt get enough of it, I still cant.

The songstress looks stunning in a figure-hugging gown on the magazine cover, and was thrilled to be involved in the publications tenth annual shape issue. Female body image is an issue she holds close to her heart, and she is proud to represent curvaceous ladies.

For a woman to accept their body the way it is, is almost impossible, she asserted. The grass is always greener.

Rihanna also discussed the importance of dressing to suit her shape. She knows that one of her best assets is her slender waist, so she likes to play on that when choosing outfits.

Im very big on dressing according to my body type. I like things that accentuate the waist and make it little, she added. (C) Cover Media
