Rob Lowe: I boxed in school corridors

5th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Rob Lowe used to box his contemporaries in the hallways at his school.

The former West Wing actor attended Santa Monica High alongside future film stars Sean Penn, Charlie Sheen, Emilio Estevez and Robert Downey Junior. But rather than study acting lessons, he spent more time having fights with his pals.

"I remember we'd put on boxing gloves and headgear and beat the sh*t out of each other in the hallways," he told Elle. "It was a truly exceptional moment in time. You had so many people who would become icons of a generation all finding their way."

Although many of his school mates went on to become Hollywood stars, at the time few of them had lofty ambitions. Rob remembers he was one of the only ones who dreamed of becoming an actor, explaining Robert originally thought his talents lay elsewhere.

"I wanted to be an actor before a lot of them did I remember sitting in history class with Robert Downey Jr. Downey was a great singer but he didn't want to be an actor back then. There was definitely something going on at that school," he recalled. (C) Cover Media
