Robbie Williams reveals labour scare

19th October 2012

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Robbie Williams has likened his daughter's birth to a horror film.

The British singer and his wife Ayda Field welcomed their daughter Theodora known as Teddy - into the world on September 18.

Robbie has now spoken about Ayda's labour, explaining it was a difficult experience for them both.

"I cut the cord but, bless her, I cut it while she was still inside Ayda. Teddy was going blue because the umbilical cord was caught around her neck. I had to be quick with the scissors. It was like the first 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan down there," he is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Sun.

"It was like Ayda vs Predator. She'd say the same thing. It's an image that won't go away."

Ayda was in labour for 12 hours and Robbie found he needed some help getting through the period too. He helped himself to some of the gas and air which is given to expectant mothers to help them cope with the pain of contractions.

"I had loads of it. I was looking at my mother looking at me. Every time Ayda had a contraction I thought, I can have gas and air too,'" he laughed.

On a more serious note, the 38-year-old says becoming a father has changed his entire outlook on life. He is proud of his "chilled" daughter and is spending as much time as possible with her. (C) Cover Media
