Russell Brand is actively flirting with an online video hostess whom he "covered with cake".

The actor-and-comedian reportedly felt chemistry with Emily Hartridge, a presenter for website MSN, when she interviewed the star about his new movie Rock of Ages.

During the interview, Russell threw some cake at Emily then licked the spongy dessert off her arm.

The actor apparently asked one of the assistants to provide him with Emily's phone number following their delectable discussion.

The pair have since been texting back and forth with one another.

"Russell is definitely winning her over," a source told British newspaper The Sun.

"Emily joked they had a love-hate relationship because he hurled food at her. Only Russell could get away with covering someone in cake then licking it off."

Emily is thought to have enjoyed the impromptu food fight.

"Got to be a good day when @rustyrockets licks your elbow mid interview," she posted on Twitter referring to the incident with Russell.

The actor's 14-month marriage to Katy Perry will officially be over in about a month's time when their divorce is finalised.
