Ryan Gosling: Carell is too funny

14th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan Gosling says Steve Carell's hilarity can be detrimental when it comes to shooting scenes.

The 30-year-old Canadian actor stars alongside funnyman Steve, 48, in upcoming comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Ryan was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Steve, as the pair both starred in a pilot of a show called The Unbelievables before their careers really hit off, although they didn't share scenes together.

Ryan has recalled how Steve continually cracking jokes on set would often halt production.

"When I first moved to Los Angeles I did a pilot that Steve was in as well," the actor told ET.

"I always wanted to work with him again since we never actually got to work with each other on that show.

"I would come to set just to watch Steve work because he was so funny. It never occurred to me that you could be so good it was a problem, but it was stopping production."

Steve, who was also present during Ryan's interview, took the time to reminisce about The Unbelievables too. He explained how the super hero show had parallels with 2004 animation The Incredibles.

"It was way before that but it was essentially the same plot," he laughed.

Steve also discussed Crazy, Stupid, Love., which tells the story of a father attempting to deal with a marital crisis. His character, Cal, undergoes a makeover in the picture, and Steve laughed that he couldn't really tell much difference.

"Well I'm not really good at dispensing makeover tips because even in this movie they do the big makeover and the big reveal and I look at myself and I go Wow that's really not that different,'" he chuckled.

"I think that the canvas that they're using is what it is." (C) Cover Media
