(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan Gosling believes watching The Notebook may put unnecessary strain on relationships.
The actor starred in the 2004 romantic film to critical acclaim about a young couple who fall in love during the early 1940s. The 30-year-old believes however that the film has heaped pressure on relationships outside of the big screen, hindered by unrealistic expectations. He cited a conversation with a fan as one example
One guy told me that he was engaged and [his fiance] broke up with him after that movie because she said to him, You wouldnt build a house for me, would you? He was like, Well, no, but I dont know how. She said, But if you knew how? He said, No, I wouldnt. But it doesnt mean I dont love you. She said, Yeah, it does. And she called it off, he told IFC.com.
The star appears in another romantic film in the form of Blue Valentine, released last week in the US. Ryan portrays Dean in the movie alongside actress Michelle Williams who he credits as the main reason he agreed to sign the contract.
Working with Michelle and Derek Cianfrance was a big appeal, he confirmed. (C) Cover Media
