Petrol bombs were hurled at the residence of popular comedian and former Mylapore MLA, S V Shekhar at Mandaveli area in Chennai, on late Monday night.

According to sources, unidentified men came in two-wheelers and hurled petrol bombs at the ace dramatist's house, triggering panic in the area. Windsheilds and seats of a car parked in front of the house were damaged in the incident. Police were informed immediately and higher officials rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

A former AIADMK MLA, Shekhar joined the Congress prior to the April 13th Tamil Nadu Assembly polls. Before joining in the AIADMK and the Congress, he was with the BJP for some time. Shekhar was hugely popular for his stage plays.
