(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Salma Hayek is producing a mini-series based on the book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

The story will be told across eight hour-long parts and is being produced in collaboration with ABC Studios.

Salma founded Ventanarosa Productions with her partner Jose Tamez and the pair will work on the drama together.

It is not yet known if Salma, also a successful actress, will star in the production herself.

The popular 1995 book by Gregory Maguire is a revised look at the characters from the popular story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and has since become a highly acclaimed Broadway musical also entitled Wicked.

However, Salmas version of the tale will firmly be based on the literary version of the story and it is not expected to feature any songs.

Salma already has a strong relationship with ABC Studios after producing the television series Ugly Betty for the network. (C) Cover Media
