Sandra Bullock buying a lion for Christmas

12th December 2011

Sandra Bullock has joked she's getting her son a "life-size lion" for Christmas.

The actress is mother to Louis, who she adopted on her own. He is due to turn two at the beginning of next year and Sandra is looking forward to the festive celebrations they have planned for later this month.

The 47-year-old star joked she has an extra-special reason for ensuring she lavishes him with gifts over the holidays.

"It's gonna be a little ridiculous," she told Access Hollywood. "I want the photo ops to be really great because he's not going to remember it, but he'll remember it by the photos and when he's 16 and says, I hate you - you're a horrible mother,' I'll go, Do you see this Christmas? Do you see that I got you that life-size lion? Shut up! Get in your room and do your homework. I was a good mother then.' And that's what I'm going to use. That's my ammunition."

Sandra previously deadpanned that she might not buy Louis anything, as she doesn't want to encourage him to expect too much in years to come.

The actress was in the process of giving Louis a home when she split from her husband Jesse James, following allegations he was unfaithful. She didn't think twice about continuing with the adoption alone and hasn't ruled out expanding her family.

"I don't know. I'm so blessed with what I have," she said.

The actress is currently promoting her upcoming movie Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. It's about a young boy whose father died in the New York City terrorist attacks on September 11 2001.

Filming was emotional for Sandra as she had been there to witness the devastation unfold.

"I was here on that day with my sister and brother-in-law. We were at a place and I got it because it had the view of the twin towers for my brother-in-law's birthday, which is September 11, so, we saw the second plane hit, we saw the people, we saw it all," she recalled.

"I didn't lose someone directly, but I was there to experience other people's loss It's not just an accident [or] something that happens, it was an intended action and that's hard to understand."
