25th July 2011
'Sanju Weds Geetha', an ode of sorts by director Nagshekhar to late actor-director Shankar Nag, recently celebrated 100 days of successful running. With the stupendous success of the film, it was time to form a fan club of the film's hero Srinagara Kitty, who's having a dream run at the box-office for the past few years.

A function was organized at Donkalla Hall, Shankar Nag Circle near Vidyapeetha in Bengaluru, to celebrate the occasion and also launch the fan club. Home Minister R Ashoka was the special guest. The star attraction of the evening was Tamil superstar Dhanush, turning up at the event on the request of his friend, actress Ramya. Hattrick Hero Shivarajkumar and Ravi Belagere of the tabloid Hai Bangalore together inaugurated the Srinagara Kitty Geleyara Balaga, to much cheering and applause.

It was time to present souvenirs to mark the 100 days of the film. nearly 140 shields and mementoes were presented to all those associated with the film. The nearly four-hour event was a mix of speech-making and entertainment. Dhanush speaking in Kannada, written by actress Ramya, got the maximum appreciation. It was Shivanna who had a word of caution for the fans. "Let the Srinagara Kitty Geleyara Balaga do good work in society and take care not to misuse the affection and power bestowed on it," he said.

Shivanna then compared Ramya to Madhubala and Sridevi before saying that he was a big fan of Dhanush, who is a simple guy but very effective in acting. The Editor of Hai Bangalore, Ravi Belagere remembered Dr. Rajkumar, earning more seetis. He then recalled his daughter marrying Kitty. He frankly admitted that at the time he had felt that he should now maintain his son-in-law as well. "Now I have the confidence that he can take care of me," Belagere said.

He addressed Ramya as the future chief minister of Karnataka to her bemused embarrassment and loud cheers by fans and then gave the example of Rebel Star Ambarish. "He is neither here nor there," he pointed out and called upon film artists not to go to the Legislative Assembly. It was then time for Kitty to speak up. But the man soaking in the love of fans requested for the same affection for his future films as well. Fans put a huge garland on their favourite hero.

Arun Sagar, Tabla Naani, Prem, Ajay, Vijay, Anirudh and Roopika, Vijay Raghavendra, Meghana and Priyanka were part of the cultural show of the evening.
