Sarah Jessica Parker: I don't shirk parenting

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sarah Jessica Parker has no live-in help, despite juggling a busy acting career and three children.

The Sex and the City star is one of the highest paid women in Hollywood and appears in new movie I Don't Know How She Does It. She plays a successful working mother who balances her career and family.

The 46-year-old says she and actor husband Matthew Broderick are very involved in raising their three children, James Wilkie, eight, and two-year-old twin girls Loretta and Tabitha.

"We don't have live-in help. We're pretty hands-on parents," Sarah Jessica told the August issue of Vogue magazine.

"That's something that's important to both of us, and we don't shirk it, because what's the point in having a family if you're not going to really participate in it, you know?"

Although Sarah Jessica loved hit television show Sex and the City she stopped doing it because she felt it required a lot of time and she just "really wanted to be a parent".

She also believes there are things about being an older mother which makes her parenting better but she is suffering from a lack of sleep and has concerns about keeping up her energy levels.

Although they are both a lover of fashion, Sarah Jessica says her Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw is totally different from herself.

"I loved playing her, and it changed my life in lots of wonderful ways, but I'm not a crazy shoe lady, I don't think about fashion all day long," she laughed.

Sarah Jessica also admitted she still finds shooting films tough. She suffers badly from nerves, which particularly affected her while on the set of I Don't Know How She Does It. Her co-star Pierce Brosnan helped her though, as he has the same problem.

"I lose my appetite. By Wednesday of the first week on I Don't Know How She Does It, I was sobbing, I was apologising. I was feeling so awful and ashamed, like I had let the director down. If only they would not tell me when the camera was running, I would be OK. I'm like that two weeks into every movie," she said.

"[Pierce] was a nervous wreck. Of course, by then I was really relaxed, but I was so comforted by it." (C) Cover Media
