Sarah Michelle Gellar: I don't weigh myself

17th November 2011

Sarah Michelle Gellar says that she does not obsess about her weight and in fact does not have scales in her home.

The 34-year-old actress reveals in the latest issue of Self magazine that she is more confident about her body now after giving birth to her two-year-old daughter Charlotte Grace.

Sarah is married to actor Freddie Prinze Jr and says her family is her main priority now and she fits in exercise when she can.

"I still work out, but not five days a week," she revealed. "I do Pilates, I run on the treadmill, I walk to the soundstage rather than taking the cart."

"I wish I could say I was in the best shape of my life right now, but I don't put the same pressure on myself that I used to. So I don't rock a bikini on Wilshire Boulevard but I don't know many people who do!"

The Ringer star says she was never that concerned about snapping back into shape after giving birth although she has shed most of those pounds without obsessing about weighing herself.

"You can't live your life by the scale," Sarah explained. "We don't even have one in our house. I've never believed in them, because your weight fluctuates."

"It's more about how my clothing fit than a number. Besides if you deny yourself everything because you're so focused on the mirror or the scale, then when do you get to enjoy life?"

Sarah said that it hasn't always been easy having her physique "scrutinised" by the media and hopes that she has more to offer than just what size clothes she wears.

"People dissect you for two pounds," she shared. "That can be incredibly difficult, but I don't take it personally anymore. "Besides, I'm not an actor who is known for her body necessarily. I hope I have a few other things going for me!"
