Scarlett Johansson always dreamed of being a Broadway star but doesn't think she has the "stamina".

The 27-year-old star made her movie debut in the 1994 film North and has gone on to enjoy a successful Hollywood career. However, when she was younger, Scarlett wanted to sing and dance on the stage.

She still harbours a passion for musical theatre and was considered for the role of Maria in Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End revival of The Sound of Music in 2005. However, Scarlett insists she doesn't have the skills to land a leading role.

"I never wanted to be a film star, I wanted to be on Broadway when I was growing up," she told UK TV show Daybreak. "That was where my dreams were based and as I got older and I started auditioning for film and TV and all different kinds of stuff like theatre I ended up kind of finding a career in film.

"I watch Broadway musicals and they are my real-life superheroes, those musical theatre actors. They are triple threats, they are unbelievable, and I could never do that eight times a week for a four-month run. I just don't have that kind of stamina and I don't have that kind of training."

While Scarlett is reluctant to show off her talents in front of a live audience, she hasn't ruled out making more music.

The star released her first album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, in 2008 and wishes she had more time to spend in the recording studio.

"I would love to, yes," she replied when asked if she plans to work on new material. "Releasing an album is like a little baby and you just have to nourish it and you need time for it."

Scarlett is currently appearing in the new superhero movie Avengers Assemble.
