Seann William Scott claims that he is shy around women.

The actor who is in Australia promoting American Reunion, the latest instalment in the American Pie franchise insists he is nothing like his character Steve Stifler, a foul-mouthed womaniser.

Seann added he had no interest in chasing the opposite sex as he is committed to his girlfriend.

"I have a girl in my life, so I think she'd be really p**sed, but I gotta say I love Australia and have been here a lot," he told Australian newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

"But I was never really able to take advantage of being an actor, because I was always too shy to talk to girls."

The 35-year-old also revealed that he never takes himself seriously as an actor. He is famed for appearing in comedies such as Role Models, Dukes of Hazzard and Bulletproof Monk.

"I'm not some serious actor, I don't want to be that guy, I hate those actors, and when I'm sitting with my girl watching TV and I hear actors talking about inspiration and things like that it makes me want to shoot the TV," he said.

American Reunion is the fourth instalment in the comedy series and is due for worldwide release next month.
