(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Selena Gomez thinks it is "amazing" that she is compared to Angelina Jolie.

The 18-year-old actress and singer is philanthropic like her idol, which has caused her to be measured up to the other brunette beauty.

Selena is involved with causes including the UNICEF and Disney's Friends for Change and is already making great strides in her charity work - like Angelina who also works for the United Nation's fund.

"Well that would be a compliment," Selena said during a charity auction benefitting the Alabama tornado recovery.

"I definitely think she's amazing when it comes to all of her work... That would be awesome."

Selena's charitable efforts do not stop there. She was recently involved in BAMA Rising, which saw one lucky bidder and their guests being given the opportunity to visit her while she's on tour.

The stunning star says she has the perfect "platform" to spread her good will.

"Whenever I grew out of my clothes we would pack them up and give them to Goodwill... Now that I'm older and I live a very blessed life, it's just nice to be able to give back in a wider way because I have that platform," she shared in an interview with E! Online.

Selena added that she would love to follow in Angelina's footsteps one day and travel with the UN, but she would also like to have her own charitable organisation. (C) Cover Media
