(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Selena Gomez says she dedicates her new song to her fans.
The Disney star recently released her latest single, Who Says, to her expecting audience. The 18-year-old admits she was initially reluctant to release new material, until she was inspired by the songs defiant lyrics. She believes the ditty is the perfect ode to her fans who may feel beleaguered.
"I felt like my fans need this song right now. So I thought it was a sweet message. With bullying, with cyberbullying, with all the negativity that is in high school and dealing with things, you're already trying to figure out who you are; it doesn't help when people are constantly trying to tear you down. And I'm dealing with it, of course. I'm going through it as well," she told MTV.
Selena has, herself, attracted criticism from the general public following her public relationship with pop phenomenon, Justin Bieber. The young starlet admits the jibes affect her, but finds that rehashing the lyrics from Who Says always improves her mood.
Every time I sing this song, I'm like, 'I feel better already! It's such a sweet song, and it's fun and empowering. I am so happy because music is a universal language and it's a quick way to get to everybody, she enthused. (C) Cover Media
