(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Selena Gomez has admitted that she feels pressure to fit in.

The 19-year-old performer said that despite her success and high-profile relationship with pop star Justin Bieber, she still at heart just wants to be liked.

In a new interview for the September issue of Glamour magazine, the teen star opened up about her insecurity living and working in Hollywood.

"You have this pressure to fit in and you want people to like you," Selena said but added that she tries to remain positive.

"I try my best to be a good person and be the best I can be."

But she also said that she should be given a break as she is still growing and learning about life and will make mistakes.

"I'm 19 so I feel like everything that I'm doing right now should not be taken too seriously," she said about her relationship with Justin.

"I should be able to have fun and enjoy where I'm at! So I don't want to spend my time hiding or worrying about all of that."

But the actress said that she is not taking her career for granted and is intent on proving her critics wrong.

"When I was 11 years old, I had a grown woman who was a casting director tell me I was not strong enough to carry the lead in any project. Now I'm doing things that I love, and I'm working really hard. I never want to play the victim or anything, but of course everybody deals with it," she said.

Selena also dispelled any break up rumours with Justin by putting on an affectionate display with the singer at last night's Teen Choice Awards. (C) Cover Media
