(Cover) - EN Movies - Selena Gomez's mother has given Justin Bieber the seal of approval.

The young stars have been dating for several months, even going on holiday recently. Justin's fans haven't taken well to the romance as they are jealous he is dating someone else, but Selena's mother couldn't be happier. She thinks the 17-year-old Canadian is the perfect gentleman and loves how well he treats her daughter.

"Yes [they've met]," Selena told talk show host Jay Leno. "He passed the test."

The 18-year-old is very close to her mother Mandy, who raised her alone when she was little. Mandy had a successful stage acting career when Selena was growing up, which helped them bond.

However, it sometimes caused friction between mother and daughter as Selena didn't always approve of her mom's roles.

"She was a chameleon my mom. She was a single mom. She basically raised me alone she had to work a lot Starbucks, restaurants, she produced commercials," Selena explained. "She was an actress too but on stage. I loved to go watch my mom it was my favourite to watch her rehearse for plays. She did this one play where she had to sing Santa Baby to Santa Claus on stage and kiss him. I was about seven and I was livid she kissed Santa Claus because I wanted her to be with my dad and I was very mad that this happened." (C) Cover Media
