Looks like Bollywood has turned to a direction of biopics and we see a lot more been made in recent times whether it is Ranbir Kapoor starrer 'Sanju' or Diljit Dosanjh starrer 'Soorma'. Although it has been a hit formula now and we have the 'Padmaavat' actor Shahid Kapoor roped in for a biopic.
The 37-year-old is roped in to play the reel life of Manipur, Ngangom Dingko Singh, known as Dingko Singh the only Asian boxer to bag a gold medal in the 1998 Asian Games. Although what's thrilling about this biopic is that the boxer battled cancer. For the role he will go under professional training from National athletes. The film will be directed by 'Airlift' and 'Chef' fame director Raja Krishna Menon.
Speaking about sportsmen Dingko Singh Shahid said, 'Dingko is a cancer survivor, and he went through 13 rounds of chemotherapy. He has even gone on to say that his biggest win was surviving cancer and not the gold medal he won at the age of 19 at the Asian Games in Bangkok. He is a sports star who survived cancer, and at some point in his past, he had almost become a Naxalite. His life story is unbelievably crazy; it is very human and extremely inspiring. Such amazing stories of heroes need to be told.''
The film is reported to go on floors in 2019. Now Shahid needs to prep up real hard to get into the skin of an athlete with a super fit muscular physique.
