Yet another moment of joy for Sharmila Tagore! The veteran actress has been lately awarded the Honourary Doctorate of Arts for her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. The great-grand niece of poet Rabindranath Tagore received this honour by the Edinburgh Napier University on Thursday, 25th October.
The 67 year old actress said in a statement that it’s indeed a privilege to be conferred by this award, as they celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema; it is a happy and humbling moment.
"Sharmila has had an astonishing career and her films are enjoyed all over the world. She is an excellent ambassador for the Indian culture”, said Dame Joan Stringer, principal and vice-chancellor of Edinburgh Napier University.
