(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Shia LaBeouf says being in a relationship with Carey Mulligan made his on-screen job much easier.
The 24-year-old star started dating the British Oscar nominee on the set of their new movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps after reportedly being introduced by the films director Oliver Stone in 2009.
The pair instantly hit it off, with their closeness adding spark to their on-screen chemistry in the sequel to the 1987 movie Wall Street.
It makes it easier, full stop, when you like the person you're working with, Shia told Movies.ie. When you've got to pretend on screen that you're dating them, and off-screen you actually are, that's obviously going to make your job that much easier. But working with someone like Carey, or Michael Douglas, or Josh Brolin, Eli Wallach, Susan Sarandon, Frank Langella, that's what makes your job easy. These are all people that are so good at what they do, they make anyone acting opposite them look good. And raise their game.
Shia said he has been lucky enough to star in a lot of different types of film, from light-hearted to serious, and he loves the fact that Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps combines both elements.
He added the recent acting roles he has been given have been phenomenal.
"Especially in the last few years, when the opportunities just became ridiculous, he said. I mean, you get to make an Indiana Jones movie with Harrison Ford, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg? How could you not want to do something like that? But the darker stuff is important to me. The Wall Street movie kinda satisfies both that mainstream kick and that darker kick. Which made it especially fun to make..."
The film is about the 2008 financial crisis and shows lead character Gordon Gekko played by Michael - trying to help the stock market before its crash as well as repair his relationship with his daughter Winnie, who is played by Carey Mulligan. (C) Cover Media
