Slash launches horror film company

25th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Slash has created a horror movie production company called Slasher Films, and already has four movies in the pipeline.

The legendary guitarist is best known for his work with bands Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver, but has decided to try something new. He announced his plans at the ongoing Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, revealing the genre is something hes always been enthralled by.

Ever since I can remember Ive been raised on horror movies, he told RadarOnline.com.

Among the projects the company is working on is a remake of Wake the Dead, which itself is based on the classic tale of Frankenstein. Theorem sees an expert in maths work out an equation for evil, while The Other Kingdom is a zombie movie.

Slash explained he plans to take inspiration from the old-school horror movies of the 70s and early 80s revealing he thinks such releases took a nosedive in the late 80s when they became too gory and over-the-top. He is making a picture called Nothing to Fear, about a religious family who become involved with a demon, which he calls heavy duty, adding he hopes to create films which will make people think.

My whole thing is to go back to the days of making very dramatic, serious, plot-driven, character-driven horror movies, as opposed to whats become the norm this day, he explained. Chop em up kind of movies that dont have real specific characters that you really care anything about.

The 45-year-old isnt leaving his past career behind totally though, as he will help create the music featured during the movies. (C) Cover Media
