(Cover) - EN Movies - The Smurf stars had no idea how the final movie would turn out because it was half animated.
Neil Patrick Harris plays a live action character in the forthcoming movie adaptation of the enduring animated TV show. However, he had to act alongside jelly moulds of the smurfs during shooting, with the special effects team adding the animated characters in post-production. Harris admits he had doubts about what the actual finished film would look like.
"It was weird because we knew we weren't going to know the end result for a year," Neil told ET Online, while his co-star Jayma Mays, joked, "I kept saying they could have put anything in there. It could have been a horror film for all we knew."
Sofia Vergara also couldn't wait to see the finished product, as she has been a massive fan of the series since watching the cartoon as a child.
"They were huge in Colombia in the 90s," Sofia explained. "Even my son grew up watching the Smurfs so it was fantastic to be a part of this project."
The Smurfs also features the vocal talents of Katy Perry, Alan Cumming and George Lopez. (C) Cover Media
