(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Snoop Dogg says he would need to find somebody "mean" to help him front a potential rap reality talent contest for television as he's too nice.

The 39-year-old rapper is one of the most respected stars of the hip-hop industry, and has been considering launching a reality music show to rival programmes such as American Idol.

He would focus on more urban sounds for the show, and as much as he'd love to be a judge on it, the star worries that he would struggle with being critical of contestants.

"Most definitely," he replied when BBC Radio One asked if he would judge the potential programme.

"[A fellow judge] would have to be somebody mean cos I'm nice - good guy, bad guy."

Snoop thinks the hip-hop idea could really help artists who haven't had the opportunity in life to prepare for stardom. He isn't interested in perfectly formed commercial acts, and is eager to find raw talent.

"It would be aimed more towards the urban community that doesn't get the opportunity to be on American idol, The X Factor," he smiled.

"I just wanna go out there and find that talent that's really hard to find and undiscovered talent - that rock in a hard place.

"[Current reality shows are] more for the commercialised perfect act, the act that their hair is perfect, their outfits, they talk good, their teeth are straight. I wanna find some acts that need some developing."

The rap star was also asked about his plans to "conquer the world", which he believes he is in the process of doing. Snoop, who is currently promoting the record Doggumentary, feels that his sound reaches further today than when he first found fame in the 90s.

"Just by making more diversified music you know what I'm saying?" he beamed.

"That appeals to more people, like my music is getting more and more universal. People always accepted me and appreciated me but now my music they are starting to compliment that so I feel like the music will expand and go into different regions." (C) Cover Media
