(Cover) - EN Movies - Brad Pitt has revealed Sean Penn is the reason he is an actor.
The Hollywood star is currently appearing alongside Sean in drama movie The Tree of Life, and cites the 50-year-old as his career inspiration.
The story centres around a family with three boys in the 1950s, and Brad, who plays the father Mr. O'Brien in the film, says working with Sean was a dream come true.
"Sean is one of the reasons I started acting. Sean was one of my gods when I was trying to figure out how to do it, what I wanted to do, what kind of films I want to do," he revealed in an interview with British newspaper The Sun.
Brad is in admiration of Sean's ability to encapsulate all the emotions when acting. Brad says Sean, who is a two-time Academy Award winner for his roles in Mystic River and Milk, is still his idol when it comes to attaining the passion he puts into each of his performances.
"He's got a ferociousness that I've still yet to attain, he's one of those few greats that is capable of being quite fierce and yet having great love. He holds these two contradictory parts in his performances and I find that most interesting," explained Brad.
Brad has admitted he is choosing film roles more carefully since having children. The 47-year-old actor has six children with partner Angelina Jolie, and says that he wants them to see him in a "mature" light when they come to watch his movies.
"I'm not being more cautious. I'm maybe being more adventurous. I want it to mean something - I want it to mean something to the children. I think that before I enjoyed more colourful characters and now I want them to know their dad has a maturity," he said.
Brad wants to make an impact with his film roles. The star says he wants to plug all of his energy into a role to make it seem worthwhile.
"I want to do stories where I can make a difference - not a difference in the world - but stories where you couldn't just plug any actor into the role, where I've got something to add. Otherwise, why do it?" he mused. (C) Cover Media
