Sofia Vergara's engagement ring rests on her hand with just the right amount of weight.

The 40-year-old Colombian actress reportedly became engaged to on-and-off boyfriend Nick Loeb in July.

Sofia says if her sparkler were any larger, she wouldn't want to wear it.

"It is perfection. If it was bigger, it would be too big to wear. But if it was smaller, I would not like," Sofia told US fashion magazine Lucky.

The voluptuous beauty dated businessman Nick, 37, for four years before he proposed.

She says part of what makes them click is that they enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

"We are f**king professionals at doing nothing," she mused.

"We like to sit around on the beach and drink wine and talk s**t."

But the actress admits she does enjoy the finer things in life as well.

The couple makes sure to keep romance alive with a bit of spontaneity.

"Maybe we will just have a little dinner on Capri," she said of the Mediterranean island.

"I love luxury. I love yachts. I love planes. I love trips. I can live without all of them, and I have, but I am not going to apologise and pretend I don't love luxury, because I do."

Sofia's marriage to Nick will mark her second trip down the aisle.

The Modern Family star was previously married to teenage sweetheart Joe Gonzalez.

The pair divorced in 1993 and share a 20-year-old son, Manolo.
