Sona, the glam doll turned producer, hurriedly convened a press meet on Thursday to announce that she was a victim of a rape attempt. She accused actor-producer-singer S P B Charan of attempting to rape her and treating her derogatorily at the Mankatha success party in Chennai recently.

She told reporters: 'At a party hosted at Vaibhav's house in Chennai,director Venkat Prabhu, Premji Amaran, Vaibhav and others were present. Unfortunately Charan made some lewd moves at me and tried to misbehave with me'.

Sona alleged that Charan attempted to sexually assault her. She also said that Venkat Prabhu tried to pull away an inebriated Charan from assaulting her.

Earlier, Sona visited the Pondy Bazaar police station and lodged a formal complaint against Charan for attempted rape. Meanwhile, Charan has denied the allegations. He said, 'I had attended the party and Sona was also present. There was some business discussions. That's all.'
