All five Spice Girls reunited to announce details of the upcoming tribute musical today.
The legendary 90s girl group appeared together at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London, UK, where they filmed their famous video for their first single Wannabe in 1996.
The band split over ten years ago and briefly reformed in 2008 for their Return of the Spice Girls Tour, but today Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Brown assembled to announce details of the highly anticipated West End production called Viva Forever! The Musical.
"It's better than we could ever have imagined," Melanie Chisholm told press at the event, while Victoria Beckham added that the show will "be introducing a whole new generation to Girl Power".
Written by comedienne Jennifer Saunders and Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer, the musical is based on the group's songs. It will tell the story of "a beautiful, talented girl and her best friends who get swept up in the obsession of today's TV celebrity culture [and it] charts her journey into the world of overnight fame and its impact on her relationships with her mother and the friends she thought she'd have forever," British newspaper The Daily Mail quotes.
Earlier today, Mel C admitted she and former band mates Emma and Geri have been getting "emotional" over the group's upcoming tribute musical.
The trio found themselves welling up upon hearing the performers sing their old songs.
Melanie, also known as Sporty Spice, added that it felt strange to watch others belt out their iconic hits.
"There is a very emotional bit; myself, Geri and Emma went to one of the workshops and there is one particular point where we were sobbing. It's emotional for us to hear other people singing our songs, it's surreal," she told BBC Radio 1. "They are very much in a different context and they probably sing them better than we did, to be fair."
Following their reunion today, Victoria Beckham tweeted she had enjoyed an "amazing" time with her pals.
The fashion designer has flown in to London from Los Angeles especially for the occasion.
"On my way home!! Thank you @MelanieCmusic @OfficialMelB @EmmaBunton @GeriHalliwell for an amazing day!! X vb (sic)," she wrote on Twitter.
"Look back, realise how far you've come," Geri wrote on the social networking website.
Viva Forever! The Musical is set to open on December 11 at London's Piccadilly Theatre.
