The whole controversy started with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma changing the name of his Telugu film from 'Savitri' to 'Sridevi'. The film is about a teenager's crush on an elderly woman who is the subject of attraction in the film.
The film's title 'Savitri' was fixed but a sudden change of mind made RGV switch it with 'Sridevi' to which the famous Indian film actress with the same name has taken an offence.
It was first Sridevi's hubby cum filmmaker Boney Kapoor who raised an objection to it. And now, both have sent a 3-day's legal notice to RGV. In this 3-days time, Sridevi-Boney want RGV to not only present an unconditional apology but also change the film's title.
Since she hasn't given her consent to use her name as a film's title, her lawyers have also stated that it is gross violation of her privacy and would subject her to needless embarrassment as she does not have any control over the content of any unauthorised or unapproved film.
If RGV fails to fulfill her conditions, Sridevi plans to extend the legal procedure. Till now there has been no reaction from RGV.
