Rakesh Sharma biopic is on the cards and why not, as he is the only Indian citizen to travel to space. It is Shah Rukh Khan locked in to play this larger than life role and the film would go on floors in February next year.
Written by Anjum Rajabali, this film will be directed by Mahesh Mathai and bankrolled by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala under their banners Roy Kapur Films and RSVP Films respectively. The title is reported to be "Saare Jahaan Se Achcha" and Bhumi Pednekar is paired opposite King Khan as per a source close to the development team.
Meanwhile, SRK will be next seen in Aanand L Rai's 'Zero' as the film is awaited for a December 21 release date.
Confirming the news at the MAMI film festival, Screwvala said, "We are doing that film with Shah Rukh Khan. We should begin it by February or March next year, but we haven't announced the female lead yet."
His film 'Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota' was premiered at MAMI and earned critical acclaim from the viewers. The comedy fantasy already won the People's Choice Award in the Midnight Madness section at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Ronnie while signing off said, "The real response and test is when we go out commercially. The response at TIFF and the award was lovely. Even here, nobody wanted to get up from their seats. We had such a lovely response."
