Filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee had to recently deal with an ugly controversy regarding his forthcoming film which is based on the heroic stories of renowned fictional character of an Indian detective Byomkesh Bakshi.
The film is based on the stories of the mentioned character penned by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. However, grapevine had it that the film was based on the stories of world famous British fictional character Sherlock Holmes.
It was said that Dibakar has taken cues from his stories and have tried to inculcate the same in his film where Sushant Singh Rajput plays Byomkesh Bakshi. But Dibakar is not bogged down by the negative controversy as he is confident about his films.
Dibakar claims that contrary to rumours, his film is actually India's answer to the internationally famous series of Sherlock Holmes. In his defence, he adds that why would anyone look for anything else when the stories of the mentioned Indian detective are nothing less than classic.
He vouched and challenged that his work is original and not inspired by any international literary piece.
