The real reason why Kareena lost 'Ram Leela'

26th September 2012

There has been a huge hullabaloo around filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Ram Leela' that is a screen adaptation of William Shakespeare's famous play 'Romeo and Juliet'

The film that was originally conceptualized with Kareena Kapoor as 'Leela' later went on to Deepika Padukone after the 'Heroine' actress walked out of the film for reasons unknown.

While the rumors stated that there were monetary issues, it also hinted at Kareena's impending marriage as one of the reasons for her ouster from the film. But now we hear that there was more than what met the eye with the whole episode.

It is said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted Kareena to sign a contract with a clause that said she would not get pregnant during the making of 'Ram Leela'. Unlike the rumors, the issue was with this clause and never the money or the marriage.

However, Kareena refused to sign such a clause and chose to walk out of the film.

A Similar issue had raised its head when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had to opt out of Madhur Bhandrakar's 'Heroine' that was later done by Kareena, after Ash's pregnancy was announced. She had shot for the film for a good 15 days before leaving the film mid way. It was around the same time when the huge hullabaloo over the 'Pregnancy' clause had made it to the headlines.
