The Rock swore to "build" up his famed rock-hard body as a child so his mother wouldn't get another eviction notice.
The 39-year-old star is famed for his impressive physique. The Rock - whose real name is Dwayne Johnson has recalled his reasoning behind perfecting his body.
"We lived in this tiny place in Hawaii, me and my mom and dad, with a kitchen area in one corner and a bed right over there. I remember one day we came home and there's this eviction notice on the door and a big lock stopping us get back in. We had no idea where we were going to sleep that night and my mom just broke down," he explained in an interview with Empire magazine, before adding his family helped them out with the week's rent so they were allowed to get back into their home.
"I remember lying in bed that night, very grateful to have a bed to sleep in, and just thinking that I was going to start building my body so that I would never see my mom go through that again.
"All the guys I idolised either family, or guys like Stallone or Schwarzenegger or even Clint Eastwood in Every Which Way But Loose, where he was a fighter they built their bodies and they became successful."
The Rock previously revealed that after announcing he wanted to pursue a career in wrestling, his dad was unsupportive of his decision.
"I told my dad and we had the biggest fight," he said.
"Sometimes I'd rather get punched in the face than hear angry word coming from a loved one."
