T.I. has remained tight-lipped about rescuing Creed frontman Scott Stapp as he didn't think the public "needed to know."
Scott decided to end it all by jumping off the balcony of his penthouse suite at the Delano Hotel in Miami while binging on drugs.
T.I. happened to be in the same building at the time and Scott revealed in a recent interview that the rapper "saved his life."
T.I. has remained mum on the subject as a courtesy to Scott.
"Me and my crew operate on a 'don't ask, don't tell' basis it's need to know only. And only those that were present were those that needed to know," T.I. told VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live.
T.I. didn't set out to be a hero that day.
The musician was simply in the right place at the right time.
"Me and my partner, Phil, we checked into the hotel, we stepped out on the balcony, and when we stepped out on the balcony, we heard groans, moans, just sounds coming from the ceiling above the balcony, so we stepped back and we looked up and we saw that there was a dude up there," he recalled.
"We didn't know who he was, he didn't know who we were. We just kinda exchanged a little dialogue about how he got up there all that had happened in the hours before and pretty soon after that, we came to the conclusion that we should call for some help. We asked if he was cool with us calling for help. He said it was a'ight, so we called the authorities, and the ambulance came and got him down."
