(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Tom Cruise is getting to see his six-year-old daughter Suri for the first time since estranged wife Katie Holmes filed for divorce.

The actor was blindsided when Katie made moves to formally end their five-year marriage while he was filming upcoming movie Oblivion in Iceland.

Us Weekly reports that the Rock of Ages star, 50, flew overnight from California to New York to see his little girl on Tuesday and was pictured carrying Suri into a hotel in the Big Apple.

The last time Tom was seen in public with Katie was on June 16 when they went for sushi in Reykjavik.

The actor has reportedly been communicating with his daughter via video chat over the past few weeks.

"Katie wants to make sure the visits are in the context of him being a parent figure," a source told the site of the divorce settlement and custody arrangement the former couple agreed on.

"[Tom] adores Suri, but now he's afraid he won't be able to have a close relationship with her." (C) Cover Media
