Venkat Prabhu's previous films were comedies and for the first time, he has handled a different genre of script with Ajith Kumar's 'Mankatha'. The film's shooting is completed and is scheduled to hit screens in June. Ajith Kumar fans expected the film to be released on May 1, 2011, his birthday but it was delayed due to extended shooting schedules. It was later announced that the audio will be launched on May 1, 2011. It has disappointed fans.
