It’s a normal practice in Kollywood to honour veteran playback singers and music directors by performing their super hit songs live on stage.
But now for the first time an ace filmmaker will be felicitated in this way. Balu Mahendra, who set a trend in filmmaking in the 70s and raised the bar of cinematography, will be honoured at a function where songs from his hit films will be rendered by popular singers.
Organised by Shivashankar, the glitzy event, which is to take place tomorrow will be graced by his industry stalwarts such as Bala, Ameer, Vetri Maaran, actors Dhanush, Arvind Swamy and Revathy among others. “This will be an ongoing event and the next in line is Bharathiraja sir,” says Shankar.
