A 20-member panel has been formed by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce to discuss a wage revision for cine workers in the South. The committee is finally expected to solve the eight-year-old problem.
The committee has five members each from the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industries. It is said that a good deal will be made by bringing together all stake holders.
"We used to frame wage agreements separately, which caused lots of problems, since cine workers used to cite the high pay scales in one industry and urged others to follow suit. Now such confusion can be avoided, due to a uniform wage structure for all the 24 unions," a member was quoted as saying.
