Thyagarajan is now remaking the yesteryear film 'Malayur Mambattiyan' in which he had done the lead role. He is now remaking this film with the title 'Mambattiyan' which has his son Prashanth in the lead role. Meera Jasmine is being paired with him. Thyagarajan while speaking about this film said, " I had to prepare my son to do the role which I did earlier. Since the film is a high budgeted film, the shooting of the film is prolonged. When the shooting of the film was completed and was about to be released, I got the opportunity to do 'Ponnar Shankar'. So I kept aside 'Mambattiyan' and concentrated on 'Ponnar Shankar'. Since 'Ponnar Shankar' has been released, I am making efforts to release Mambattiyan."
